Making smoothies, soup purees, and other thick mixtures in your blender can be quite convenient—until you have to clean them up afterwards. The whole process of disassembling your blender to get rid of the food residue can be a hassle for many, especially when the leftover food inside is difficult to remove.
Fortunately, we discovered a 30-second cleaning hack that doesn’t involve disassembling your blender or having to suffer through sticking a brush into your blender’s nooks and crannies. Here are our tried-and-tested steps on how to get your blender instantly clean:
Items You Need:
STEP 1: Add hot water
Pour hot water into your smoothie blender until it’s half full.
STEP 2: Mix in some dish soap
Place a few drops of dish soap into the blender pitcher.
STEP 3: Turn the blender on
Close the lid of your blender and hold down the lid with a small towel to prevent any spillage. Turn on your blender and let it run for a few seconds.
STEP 4: Rinse it off
Pour out the soapy hot water and rinse out your blender with clean, warm water.
Food stains on your blender can be annoying to look at, as well as difficult to get rid of. The good news is, we have a tip for how to remove those too!
Just mix one cup of warm vinegar, ¼ cup baking soda, and two cups of water into your blender. Blend everything together for a few minutes before letting the mixture sit in your blender overnight. The next day, gently rinse the mixture out of your blender using clean, warm water.
The base contains the blender’s electronic motor and control system. These parts won’t do well when exposed to water, which makes cleaning the base especially tricky.
Here are some cleaning agents that you can use to help clean your blender base:
For cleaning stainless-steel blender bases and trims, glass cleaners can be pretty effective. All you have to do is spray it on and rub it on your blender with a soft cloth. Your prized appliance will be clean and crystal-clear in no time.
Aside from being a vital ingredient in baking yummy treats, baking soda is also a magic ingredient when it comes to cleaning. This versatile household product helps remove dirt and gets rid of bad smells. To use it on your blender base, just mix some baking soda with water and use it to wipe down the surface.
An all-purpose cleaner makes cleaning easy and hassle-free, as its multi-purpose use means it’ll clean pretty much any surface. For cleaning blenders, just spray the solution onto your blender base and wipe it off thoroughly with a soft cloth.
Although these cleaning tricks make life infinitely more convenient, nothing will get your blender cleaner than a deep clean once every month or two. Make sure to disassemble your blender every so often to really give it a good disinfecting.
Also, keep in mind that glass, stainless steel, and plastic blender jars may require different cleaning methods or maintenance methods. So before using any cleaning agents on your blender, make sure to read the labels and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
