- Build up the blender speed as you go. This ensures that your blender is not overworked nor forced to break hard substances. This could lead to problems later on, so turn up the speed slowly as you begin the blending process.
Add the liquid ingredients slowly when the machine is running. Some recipes call for adding liquids while mixing. In cases like this, make sure to add liquids little by little to not affect the motor.
Wash your blender carefully. You can place your blender in the dishwasher, but remember to take out the blades. Not doing so causes the blades to get dull, as the dishwasher may put them through too much pressure. Another way of washing your blender is by blending water and soap in it! Pour a drop of liquid dish detergent into the container base and fill it one-third full of warm water. Secure the lid and blend on high for 35 to 45 seconds! After this, rinse the container and lid well, and then wipe dry.
The Don’ts of Using Blenders
Do not place utensils in the blender while it’s running. This will ruin your blades and eventually cause more trouble, specifically on the motor. If you need to work on ingredients, turn off the blender first before using a scraper or spatula.
Don’t fill your blender to the brim. Remember that you’re working with liquids, and liquids don’t stay in the same place - especially in a blender! As soon as your appliance starts running, the liquid will spin in every direction, causing it to spill—most of your dinner will end up on the floor for you to clean.
Never use a blender with an exposed or frayed cord. Throw it out right away to avoid the risk of causing a fire and electric shock.
Don’t continuously blend extremely thick foods. Your blender can overheat due to being overworked, so let it rest in between blending sessions.
