This is a low sugar smoothie (except for sugar found in the bananas.) Birch sugar is used to sweeten to taste. Birch sugar (aka Xylitol ) is very low on the glycemic scale (13 versus 100 for sucrose.) Xylitol inhibits tooth plaque and can help reduce ear and upper respiratory infections. It also helps increase bone density and may help reduce blood pressure. The best is made from hardwoods like birch.
Hemp Hearts are a complete protein with a high amount of Omega 3 fatty acids and they stay crunchy unlike chia or flax seeds. They help fight inflammation, reduce cholesterol, balance hormones, and improve immunity.
