Use dragon fruit as a special garnish, with granola, nuts and berries in a exotic flavoured smoothie bowl. The acai palm (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) is native to the tropical Amazon regions of Brazil and Peru. Fresh acai berries look like a cross between blueberries and grapes. Acai powder is made from freeze-dried acai berries: superfruits with tremendous health benefits. Acai berries have more antioxidants than almost any other fruit and contain high levels of essential fatty acids, amino acids, and dietary fiber.

Dragon fruit (also called the Pitaya in its indigenous language) is rich in vitamin C and dietary fibre. The flesh from dragon fruit comes off of the skins very easily. When fresh, its texture is a cross between a kiwi fruit’s many seeds and a just-ripe pear and is honey sweet.

  • 1⁄2 cup coconut water
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1⁄4 cup cashews
  • 1⁄4 cup fresh mango
  • 1 teaspoon real vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon acai powder
  • 1 tablespoon coconut milk powder
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

  1. Cleanblend all smoothie ingredients just until smooth and to a porridge-like consistency (smoothie bowls are eaten with a spoon and should therefore have a thicker consistency than a smoothie served in a drinking glass).
  2. Pour the smoothie into a wide dinner bowl and garnish by decorating with rows and geometric patterns of fruit, seeds, nuts, and granola. We used kiwi, chia, shredded coconut, cashews, walnuts, mango, dragon fruit, organic granola clusters, and acai powder in this exotic, tropical-flavoured smoothie bowl!
